Goldenrod Pincushion
Bittersweet Pincushion
Cattails Pincushion
Goldenrods, bittersweet, cattails. Things that symbolize autumn, in my mind. I especially like how the bittersweet berries and the rounded part of the cattails turned out-- though the photos might not show it so well, I stitched them to be raised, in order to give them more of a presence and dimension. And since I couldn't find a suitable shade for the vine of the bittersweet among my store-bought floss, I used my naturally dyed embroidery thread, dyed with alder. The color was just right, I think! I enjoyed making these little vignettes of autumn-- I felt as if I was preserving a bit of the season, a happy memento of sorts.
Embroidery on linen. My original designs. They can be found at my shop here.
Have you thought about selling the patterns on etsy? I love your embroidery, so beautiful!

Very nice! You can definitely see the raised cattails. I love how simple and yet complicated they are.
