A project that virtually came together on its own.
It started as a little swatch to try out an embroidery stitch that interested me-- couched circles. I used a scrap length of my naturally dyed silk/wool yarn in safflower yellow and a leftover piece of embroidery floss from a previous project. Once they were stitched, I thought a few more circles would be nice... So I rummaged through my leftover floss bin to find nice complimentary colors and added some satin stitch circles and a few French knots.
As I was embroidering the top, I remembered that I had just the right fabric for the back too, with a circles motif and a similar color scheme. This was a small sample piece I purchased ages ago to see if it would look good on the back of a patchwork quilt I was making... rather, am making, as it's still not finished. After 12 years. Yikes! Perhaps I'll show it here someday...
This pincushion was a great way to use up stash remainders and still end up with something pretty and useful. And I learned a new stitch besides! I like happy, impromptu projects like this.
So, so cute!

This is lovely! Great idea to showcase small sampler projects too.
